August 2007 Newsletter
We’ve reached 79 members in the Existential Questions group on Facebook, up 18 members from the last ‘Do You Exist?’ newsletter. Naturally, we welcome each and every new member. Naturally, we want EVERYONE to join this group and share their thoughts. That’s why we’ve started this blog for the Facebook group and have now gone even further with it. Read on:
We haven’t been sitting on our butts for the past month, but have rather been working on a few related projects.
First, in an effort to take the Existential discussions to the audience outside Facebook, we’ve created a Forum for Existential Questions. There’s no need to register to view the discussions or reply to them, although registering does have more perks, naturally.
It took a while to find a forum host because we’re picky… Ok, the number one requirement was exactly as I mentioned above, that one does not need to register. This was a requirement for us because we understand that many people might not be willing to share their opinions were they not granted anonymity. And presto! Now you can!
The forum can be found at http://existentialquestions.hyperboards.com.
Second, we’ve just today created a new section to the Existential Questions blog: Existential TV. Not entirely sure what’ll become of it, but from first impressions, there’s the possibility of allowing EVERYONE to post videos and such on the channel. We’re working on it… Stay tuned!
Existential TV, which is located on Kyte.tv, is a live stream of posts, showing the most recent production, with the possibility of viewing all previous productions. The Existential TV is located at http://existentialquestions.wordpress.com/tv/
This past month we’ve also welcomed a new author to the website, Martin, who’ll start contributing to the website by the way of editorials and such. Note, you don’t have to be a contributor to the blog to express your opinions. That’s what the Facebook group and the forum are for.
I’ve noticed, in many conversations with members of this group, that many of you like to talk about the issues discussed on this group. I’ve heard people have conversation about Abortion, The Meaning of Life, and several other existential questions mentioned here.
We’ve began to add selected replies from your replies to the blog, along with editorials.
Once again, please spread the gospel and invite all your friends! If you know anyone who likes existential discussions, let them know about this community. For the sake of convenience, here’s the link to the page from which you can start inviting your friends on Facebook.
You can follow all posts from the website by adding the RSS feed (http://feeds.feedburner.com/existentialquestions/) to your feed reader of choice (Google Reader, Bloglines, Opera Mini, NewsGator, etc…). There is also a link on the website to subscribe by email, if you prefer…
As a final note, we’d like to extend a thank you to everyone who has already shared their views on the Facebook group. Thank you Ivy, Martin, Nora, Pasi, Damian, Janne, Viivi, Emmanuel, Laura, and Eve! Let’s us not forget about Anita who became the first person to comment on the blog!
So fire away and have your say. The more people contribute to the discussions, the better understanding of the world we’ll achieve.
Thank You!
July 2007 Newsletter
First of all, thank you to all 61 of you for joining Existential Questions.
Now, it’s time to take the next step by joining the discussions. There are 9 topics on the Discussion Board, as well as 2 polls.
If any of these interest you, do share your thoughts with everyone else. Your answer may be a short answer, even just one word, or a full essay. Anything between the two extremes is obviously welcome…
Now although I never suffered through IB TOK, those of you who did should have a lot to offer to this group. There’s a twist though. This is more versatile, more fun, and more passionate. Think of it as a combination of TOK, debate team, and social studies… Hell, throw some MUN in there while we’re at it… It’s high school all over again, without the grades and boring stuff…
Here are the current ongoing discussions:
-What Is Your Perception Of Hell?
-What Is Your Perception Of Heaven?
-Does Religion Matter In Today’s World?
-Classic: What Is The Meaning Of Life?
-What Is The Greatest Concept Of All?
-Stem Cell Research: Are You For Or Against?
And the two polls:
-Politics: Who Will Be Elected President In 2008?
-Abortion: Are You Pro-Life Or Pro-Choice?
Spread the gospel and invite all your friends! For the sake of convenience, here’s the link to the page from which you can start inviting people:
